Course Options Overview

We're on a mission to build innovation capacity in the social sector and to accelerate the progress of social impact initiatives within our community.

Inspire is a six-week, self-directed innovation program for change-makers, social innovators, and non-profit staff that that teaches how to use human-centered design and design thinking as an approach to problem solving. This course empowers individuals and organizations to approach problem-solving in a new way by sharing the skillsets, mindsets, and toolsets Albertans need to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

To complete the course material, we recommend booking 1-2 working sessions (2-3 hours total) a week to hold yourself accountable to your learning and growth.  Additionally, for deeper understanding, it is useful to apply your learning directly to your lived experience. So, we recommend thinking of a challenge or opportunity area you'd like to focus on throughout Inspire. This problem doesn't need to be big or complex! It can be any gap in a system or question that needs an answer.

Three Inspire Course Options

Inspire provides three distinct learning opportunities for you and your team to think and do differently

Individual Inspire

  • Register on your own
  • Self-directed program
  • 6-week timeline (2-3 hours of course work per week)
  • 12-18 hours of online material
  • $200.00 per person


Organizational Inspire

  • Register as a team of 3-6 staff
  • Self-directed program
  • 6 week program (2-3 hours of course work per week)
  • 12-18 hours of online material
  • 5 hours of virtual support from an expert advisor
  • $1,500.00 per team

Systems Inspire

  • Share your systems-level concern with us and collaborate to bring together the right people to innovate around this problem
  • Participate in expert-facilitated workshops over several months to tackle a community-identified issue
  • Participation through invitation only
